My Bug List

Here are twenty bugs that bother me, and why I believe they exist:

1. I sometimes wake up with excruciating neck pain that doesn't subside for two days.
     a. This happens because when I came back from College (due to COVID-19), I left my favorite pillow back at my dorm, and ever since I have been sleeping uncomfortably.

2. When I do work for my parents at our family stores, it is often unclear what they require from me when I start my day.
     a. This is due to the fact that my parents and I have not created an organizational system to determine when and where I am needed and what my objectives at work should be.

3. I love my dog to death, but I am extremely allergic to him :(
     a. This bug is simply caused by science and bad luck. I am aware of certain treatments but I am usually away at College long enough to where they are not worth it.

4. The wait time to get a Pub-Sub at my local Publix is always at least twenty minutes, sometimes over thirty.
     a. I believe the way Publix sets up their pub-sub stations are flawed; the capacity is too low and there is only ever a maximum of two people making sandwiches. During a lunch rush of ten customers, it can take almost thirty minutes to walk out the door.

5. No matter how much I clean my room, it seems to always get dusty again after a few days. I am allergic to dust as well.
     a. This bug may be caused by several things, such as air filters needing to be replaced or my vacuum not being strong enough to clean all of the dust.

6. It seems that regardless of if I go to bed early or late, I always wake up feeling tired and unsatisfied with my sleep.
     a. This may be due to several factors such as having an unsteady sleep cycle, sleeping on a different bed than I am used to, being too active before bed, and not having a solidified morning routine.

7. My WiFi always has issues and is never as fast as any of my friends' WiFi networks.
     a. I blame this bug on AT&T. We always have issues with their services but unfortunately Comcast does not offer internet in our region.

8. When I walk my dog, he makes it a point to chase and bark at every single passing car without fail.
     a. This bug probably exists because we allowed him to develop this bad habit when he was a puppy. Now that he is older, it is unlikely we would be able to change this behavior.

9. I organize a fair amount and tend to keep things on a calendar. I still always have a looming sensation that I am always forgetting something or that deadlines are approaching sooner than they really are.
     a. I believe this is caused by my mental state. Lately I have been more anxious than usual since COVID-19 has broken most of my daily routines.

10. As a drummer, I never seem to be able to get the same sound that my favorite drummers produce.
     a. This is caused by a difference in equipment- they utilize way better drums and microphones and cymbals than I will ever be able to get my hands on.

11. Regardless of how many times I explain to my dad that he shouldn't give the dog extra food, he always does. My dog has pancreas issues so it really isn't healthy for him to eat human food.
     a. I believe my dad does this to please the dog and illicit a positive reaction, but I don't think he truly understands that he is harming the dog more than he is helping the dog.

12. I have added exercise to my new routine but have still found it difficult to lose weight.
     a. I have not been as effective in changing my diet as I had hoped.

13. I love utilizing GMAIL for all my email services, but UF insists on utilizing Outlook. My old school used GMAIL.
     a. This is probably due to cost reasons, or Microsoft's Outlook may be easier for large organizations to use.

14. I try to be organized with my belongings, but when it comes to electronics I can never master cable management. My desk is cluttered with cables.
     a. My setup is not optimal and there are more cables than may be needed, but I don't know enough about technology to know what I can leave unplugged and what can stay plugged in.

15. The battery in my expensive iPhone that was purchased less than two years ago is already at less than 90% capacity. I'm constantly having to charge before my day ends.
     a. This is due to wear-and-tear on batteries over their charging cycles. Regardless, it is still annoying.

16. I like my friends a lot, but they are sometimes a source of peer-pressure. I have never done anything I am uncomfortable with, but I wish they would respect my boundaries at times.
     a. I believe their desire to peer-pressure is just from the social force of being in a group of friends and noting that I am not participating in the same activity as others. They may be trying to include me.

17. My mechanical keyboard is great, but even after removing all the keys I still can't seem to get all of the dust out.
     a. This is due to the design of mechanical keyboards; with all of the key-switches and moving parts it is almost impossible to get all of the dust out of them.

18. My Macbook doesn't stay in 'sleep mode'. Every time I get a message on my iPhone, it wakes up my Mac to show me.
     a. This is from Apple's software design that I can't seem to de-activate without shutting down my computer (which I don't always want to do).

19. Sleep masks, no matter which one I try, never seem to fully block out the bottom portion, allowing light to come in from where your nose is.
     a. This is probably by design to allow the wearer to breathe properly, but it is that sliver of light that always wakes me up.

20. The Macbook Pro only has USB-C outputs. I require two adapters just to use my monitor.
     a. Apple designed the Macbook this way to keep it sleek and slim, but it has created a product that is sometimes not very functional for basic tasks.

Reflection on the challenges I had in coming up with my bug list:

This assignment was much more difficult than I anticipated. After the first ten bugs, I went from writing a bug every minute to a bug every four minutes. This assignment definitely opened up my eyes to the number of bugs and annoying things we become accustomed to over time. Because of this, it was difficult to come up with twenty bugs. Not only that, but at times it was unclear what was causing those bugs, so the second portion of the assignment was also difficult. Overall, it was interesting yet difficult to come up with my bug list.
