My Entrepreneurship Story


Attached is a family picture of me, my brother, my cousins, and my grandmother. My grandma is and has been the best entrepreneur I've ever met. In the mid 1900's, she moved from Greece to Brazil with my grandfather to start a new life. They arrived very poor and with little to no resources. Since then, they've built one of the largest bus companies in the southern part of Brazil, and supply bus services to the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. They are always expanding and looking to get bigger. It all began with my grandparents and a dream, and my grandma is living testament to the entrepreneurial spirit.

I enrolled in ENT 3003 to get a new outlook and perspective on business. Nowadays we are drilled in school to be the best employee possible, learning how to shake hands and make good resumes. Teaching students to think about making their own path is rare, and I am looking forward to learning about that and more in ENT3003.

    I was actually very surprised to read that your grandma moved from Greece to Brazil with your grandfather. I am actually from Greece and grew up there moving to Miami when I was about 14 years old so I could relate a lot to your story. My dad started as an entrepreneur here in the US with no resources as well and started a very successful construction company. Personally I haven't had many encounters with entrepreneurship yet but looking forward in the future. Great work overall!!

Forming an Opportunity Belief

My Beginning Point:      I believe an opportunity exists when it comes to the slow service at Publix when ordering "pub-subs," their famous line of sandwiches. Their slow service is a frequent point of discussion among those who chose Publix's competitors, and even regulars at Publix often complain about the wait times. Describing My Belief :      The unmet need is faster service when ordering pub-subs. There are many people who have that need; specifically, it is deli customers who want a pub sub that most have that need. Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Parts 1-6      Last week, in part one of this assignment, I focused on three people who fit my segment (franchise owners). I specifically focused on need awareness and information search when conducting my interviews. This week, I conducted three more interviews. One was with my friend's mom who was a franchise owner.
