Final Reflection

Reading through my posts throughout the semester, I can definitely see the highs and lows of this class and my concepts. I do think I had some pretty bad ideas (my concept in elevator speech #1) and some other ideas that are much stronger. There were also tough moments, especially in completing this class while dealing with the adverse effects of COVID in Florida.

The most formative experience in this class, however, has to be the three elevator speeches. I think I will not only remember having to record them, but I will hopefully carry the public speaking skills I earned from doing the speeches with me in the future. I am proud of the fact that I was able to progressively improve on each speech I gave, and I truly think this will carry on with me in the future.

By now, while I may not necessarily be an entrepreneur because I haven't started a business, I definitely think I can understand and relate to the entrepreneurial mindset. While it seemed like a distant and confusing concept at first, I know understand it from all of the times I had to put my 'entrepreneur hat' on to complete assignments from this class. Those hands-on assignments were definitely beneficial to learning the entrepreneurial mindset.

One recommendation I would make is to get ahead on the work while you can. Unfortunately, I did not prioritize as I should have in this class, and sometimes this created stressful and tense situations that could have easily been avoided. I'd recommend fostering a productive mindset that prioritizes getting ahead rather than catching up.

This is a picture I took last year in Greece, when travel and vacation were still things we did. I look at it as a reminder that things are going to get better over time and soon enough life will be normal again. Thanks to all of you for making this a great class!

  1. Hey Jean,
Your concept has come a long way, and I've really enjoyed reading about it. I agree with you that in order to really enjoy and learn from this class, the student should try and stay ahead on assignments. For the first couple weeks of this semester I kind of put them off until the last minute, and that wasn't helping anybody. I also agree that, while few of us have probably started a business off of our ideas, the process of forming and expanding on these ideas is still incredibly useful. On that, I think your idea is incredible and could help a lot of people, and I think you should run with it and see how it goes. Nice work this semester!
